3ComŽ Core Family of Switches Overview
The 3ComŽ Core Family of Switches delivers versatile, highly resilient Gigabit and Fast Ethernet switching with advanced multilayer capabilities for demanding network core configurations and aggregation of edge switches. Within this family are two categories: high-performance modular switches, (the 3Com Switch 7700, Switch 4007 and 4007R and Switch 4005) and fixed configuration core switches, (the 3Com Switch 40x0 Family).
The 3ComŽ Switch 7700 modular LAN switch delivers high performance, multilayer, Gigabit and Fast Ethernet switching and routing in an integrated platform. Help assure business continuity for data and voice convergence applications in demanding core and campus environments.
The 3Com Switch 4007 and Switch 4007R offer high-density, highly customizable switching with up to 216 Ethernet/Fast Ethernet ports or 54 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and provide IP, IPX, and AppleTalk routing. The Switch 4007R comes with an additional chassis slot for a redundant switch fabric to provide the highest level of network availability.
The 3ComŽ Switch 40x0 Family of switches are high-performance, wire-speed, Layer 3 10/100/1000 switches, with dual redundant "hot swappable" power supplies and fans, with flexibility and expansion provided through SFP (Small Form Factor Plug-in) or GBIC transceivers. The switches in this family optionally support 3Com's XRN technology - a unique core solution delivering distributed resilience.
The 3Com Switch 4005 is an affordably priced, feature-rich Layer 3 switching solution for enterprises that don't need an expensive router. This chassis switch is scalable from 8 to 96 Fast Ethernet ports and from 1 to 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
